Northeast BC Rural Community Immigration Pilot

Misinformation Hurts Communities

Know the Facts About Immigration

Community Futures Peace Liard (CFPL) is aware of misinformation circulating about immigration and local economic programs.

We want to be clear — false or misleading information can harm our communities, divide neighbours, and prevent newcomers from contributing to our shared success.

Misinformation related to The Rural Community Immigration Pilot Program has contributed to confusion and reduced public trust.

The facts matter:

  • Immigration programs are governed and managed by federal and  provincial authorities, not by Community Futures.

  • Community Futures Peace Liard supports local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and communities — including newcomers — to strengthen the regional economy and create opportunities for all residents.

  • Community Futures Peace Liard works in partnership with Municipalities, Chambers of Commerce, and economic development organizations to promote  growth, inclusion, and opportunity.

Before sharing information online or in conversation, STOP and ask:

S: Is it from a credible source?

T: Have I Thought critically about who benefits from sharing it?

O: Can I Offer facts instead of opinions or rumours?

P: Does it Promote respect and understanding in our community?

Let’s build communities based on truth and respect — not fear and misinformation.
